Hulless barley is best as a short sprout – not meant for grass

  • Days to Sprout: Short sprout ready in 3 days
  • Soak Time: 6 – 12 hours
  • Storage: Our seeds should sprout well for a year after you purchase them, if stored in a cool dry place. If you’d like to extend the germination life of your seeds, store them in the fridge. If you store your seeds in the freezer, they’ll last even longer!

Sprouting Directions: Hulless Barley

Soak: Day 1; Put 1/4 cup seed in a wide mouth jar with a sprouting lid. Add water, swirl, and drain. Refill jar with water and soak 6-12 hours. Drain well and invert jar at an angle on a sprouting rack, or in a bowl or drain rack.

Rinse: Twice a day, refill jar with cold water, swirl, and drain.

Enjoy! Ready to eat in (2-3) days. Refrigerate to store.

"This review summarizes the enhancement in the nutritional value as well as the functional characteristics of cereals due to germination and fermentation treatment. The protein concentration increases and the amino acid profile is balanced by germination and fermentation. The antinutritional factors are reduced increasing the mineral availability from the cereals. Germination enhances the quality of nutrients and bioactive compounds of cereals thereby increasing the content in proteins, amino acids, sugars, and vitamins. The functional properties of cereals is enhanced due to generation of biofunctional substances, increase in protein solubility, in vitro protein digestibility and lowering of glycemic index." 1. John in Vancouver

great quality, clean and weed free. I use barley to make barley water and then process the barley in my vitamix and use it to make bread.

  2. Tarsiers

Great quality seeds always have a big sprouts to seed ratio. There were no broken seeds in the bag at all. There were a few occasional pebble that needs to be picked out, but it is expected from barley grass. Aside from being nutritious, they make excellent counter top greenery!

My angora cat eats 3 pots of barley leaves a week, it helps to get rid of her hairballs. When my pet shop suddenly stopped carrying barley seeds, I quickly thought of Mumm’s because I use many of their sprouts for myself 🙂
The order came fast and the barley grains are of excellent quality! I ordered other seeds for me as well.
Big thanks from my healthy cat and me 🙂

  4. Growgril

I sprout them for short time, and add the tiny sprouted grains to vegetable soups all winter long. They add a lovely heartiness to a winter soup,

I found alot of hulls in this order of barley, otherwise I enjoy the barley alot. It is of high quality.

  6. Ik Nam

I soak barley at night and drain them and grow them in basket 1-2 days, after that I move them in tray usually. They grow well any time. But this time, over half of them didn’t sprout. I bought barley here first time and very disappointed with it.

  7. Kate

I really love the barley. However it ‘s not available for several months. Will it be available soon? Thanks!

    Not recommended

Don’t grow at all. I think I just did something wrong in first time, but I tried several times and nothing.
