Beans‚ Garbanzo
Perfect for making your own sprouted hummus!
- Days to Sprout: 2-3
- Soak Time: 6-12 hours
- Yield: 1/2 cup of dry seed yields 2.5 cups of sprouts
- Storage: Our seeds should sprout well for a year after you purchase them, if stored in a cool dry place. If you’d like to extend the germination life of your seeds, store them in the fridge. If you store your seeds in the freezer, they’ll last even longer!
Sprouting Directions
Soak: Put approximately 1/4 cup seed in a wide mouth jar with a sprouting lid. Add water, swirl, and drain. Refill jar with water and soak 6-12 hours. Drain well and invert jar at an angle on a sprouting rack, or in a bowl or drain rack.
Rinse: Twice a day, refill jar with cold water, swirl, and drain.
Enjoy! Ready to eat in (2-3) days. Refrigerate to store.
Helpful tip:
- If you notice hard seed after soaking, next time soak longer or use hot water 125F/50C let water cool down while soaking for 4-12hrs. Experiment with what works best.

I find its a bit crazy at first to order chickpeas. but I’ve been having problems sprouting chick peas I’ve been purchasing locally from the grocery store or even the health food stores. These sprout very well, with no trouble and are very tasty. So it was totally worth it.
Must try a sprouted chick pea – sprouted sesame hummus, its the best

Virtually all are fertile, no split/sterile at all. After two days, a wholesome bowl of raw sprouts with or without dressing is a favorite snack when on the go.

I ordered Garbanzo beans a while ago, they sprouted fine and taste okay but this lot (grown in the US) is by far the best! I used it to make natto in place of soybeans and it was delicious. Made miso as well but will know how that turned out in a year’s time. 🙂
Stephanie was extremely helpful in making sure I received the lot grown in the US! Thank you!
Mumm’s sprouting seeds is my go to” for all seeds for the purpose of sprouting and fermentation.”

The beans are very mild and sweet tasting; not like the ones that are sprayed with chemicals. I pre-soaked them in ACV for 24 hours which helps them cook faster. They were soft and tender and moist in my Garbanzo A La King” vegetarian meal. “

I had never thought that sprouted chickpeas could be so tasty because I could only think of how they smelled when I soaked them. I was absolutely amazed at how fresh they tasted and how good they were eaten just by themselves. They take salads and other dishes to a new level.

Good quality product, easy to sprout and delicious.

These sprouted well and I found the finished product to have a bit of a pepper taste and crunchy. I did notice some of the sprouts were discolored so I didn’t eat those ones. Not sure why that was because I rinse all my sprouts maybe 4 times a day.

These little games don’t take long to sprout. And they keep well in the fridge

I’ve been growing beans and grains to cook in my Instant Pot, as I have trouble digesting them, even after sprouting. These are great tasting. They take about 18 minutes in the Pot.

FYI, there are about 5.625 cups per kg of beans. I sprouted about half a cup and every single one sprouted! I then cooked them for about ten minutes and used them to make hummous. Please note that using sprouted chick peas requires a lot less moisture when making hummous. The flavor is great! I don’t know how much they swelled, but they at least doubled. For best results do not cook garbanzo or other beans in well water!
