These 5-day sprouts are similar to alfalfa, but even easier to grow and a mild-sweet flavour.
- Days to Sprout 4 to 5
- Soak Time 4-8 hours
- Yield 1 tbsp of dry seed yields approx. 1.5 – 2 cups of sprouts.
- Storage Our seeds should sprout well for a year after you purchase them, if stored in a cool dry place. If you’d like to extend the germination life of your seeds, store them in the fridge. If you store your seeds in the freezer, they’ll last even longer!
Sprouting Directions (Jar method)
Soak: Put 1-2 Tbsp. seed in a wide mouth jar with a sprouting lid. Add water, swirl, and drain. Refill jar with water and soak 4-12 hours. Drain well and invert jar at an angle on a sprouting or draining rack, or in a bowl or drain rack.
Rinse: Twice a day, refill jar with cold water, swirl, and drain well.
Enjoy! Ready to eat in 5 days. Refrigerate to store. (Sprouts store best when they are fairly dry.)
Helpful tips:
- Some sprouts tend to clump together as they grow. To separate, fill the jar with water, remove the screen and stir gently with a fork during the regular rinse. Remove hulls if desired. Drain well.
- The drier they are the better sprouts keep. Be sure to let sprouts grow another half day after the final sorting rinse before storing in the fridge. Optional: put folded paper towel on top of the sprouts in the jar. Put lid on and refrigerate turned upside down. This removes excess moisture.
- If your home is very warm during the summer months, it may help to rinse the sprouts three times a day with cold water. Stir gently if clumping.
- To remove the hulls and unsprouted seeds from leafy sprouts, use a special sorting rinse. Pull sprouts out of the jar into a large bowl filled with water. Swish gently to separate the tangled roots. Most hulls will separate and rise or sink. Discard the hulls. Collect the sprouts back to the jar with or without aid of a strainer. Return sprouts to jar, drain, and continue sprouting for another half a day or so.
- Some brassicas (cabbage family) like radish and broccoli develop very fuzzy root hairs the longer you leave them undisturbed and these can be mistaken for mould. You will even see these after a few days of storage in the fridge. Stirring and rinsing removes the root hairs for a time.

I only sprouted alfalfa until I bought those. They grew super fast, and wow, the taste is no unique. It has a bit of a spicy flavor. My hubby even put some in his sandwiches!
MyFiona –
Just a bit sweeter than alfalfa but otherwise hard to tell the difference. We sometimes mix the red clover seeds with alfalfa and/or other seeds, but they’re great on their own too. We have hem in sandwiches and wraps, or as a side or salad substitute.

I tried for the first time to grow red clover. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily and quickly sprout these seeds. Red clover is very useful for women’s health, but also delicious.
I add these seeds to salads, sandwiches, smoothies, etc ..

Simply love these red clover seeds. They are a staple in my house. For the amount I use, much better to order bulk online than to buy in stores.

It is so wonderful to have fresh sprouts growing in my kitchen. So happy with my purchase. I can definitely taste the quality in my organic sprouts.

I discovered Mumm’s when I first moved to Canada 16 years ago. I have purchased a variety of items regularly over the years, and have occasionally purchased seed from other suppliers – it is NEVER worth it! Mumm’s offers quality, customer care when needed, always offer prompt service, and always offer a great variety of seed – both the every day items that I am looking for as well as the more unique options.

These sprouts are quick to start, tasty and tender to eat and work well in wraps as an alternative to lettuce.

Until I discovered Mumm’s seeds, I used alfalfa sprouts from the grocery store. What a difference home grown sprouts are! I follow the suggested storage instructions and they have never gone slimy or wilted – they keep for average 3 to 4 weeks in the fridge! These little clover sprouts are sweet and crisp 🙂
Homesteading Grandma –
very clean, slightly spicy fresh crunchy sprouts in 5 days (quicker than alfalfa). I like them mixed with alfalfa, fenugreek and broccoli sprouts, harvest all at 5 days and use on a sandwich or in salad.
Best to eat them or refrigerate them soon at the 5-day point as they begin to get a bit fibrous I find if you let them grow too much longer.
Laura –
Very good purchase. Those little sprouts quickly grow within few days.

I ordered a 1kg package of Red Clover in October 2018. The order arrived very quickly and was well packaged. Sadly, the bag popped which sent the tiny seeds scattering and bouncing across the floor. I contacted Mumm’s about the problem but didn’t expect much having become accustomed to poor customer service from other vendors. Much to my surprise, Mumm’s responded promptly, explained that they had had a packaging issue, and offered to send a replacement package right away. Within a few days, a new bag of sprouts had been delivered to my post office and was ready for pick up. Mumm’s customer service was exemplary and further solidified my loyalty to their already stellar brand. As for the sprouts, they are great. Similar to Alfalfa but sweeter tasting with the characteristic clover flavour, quick growing, and a great addition to salads, wraps, sandwiches, burger toppings, or to use as a garnish. I highly recommend both the red clover sprouts and Mumm’s Sprouting Seeds.

Seeds sprout evenly and well (98%) and fast. I love the taste and texture of the clover. Great in sandwiches and salads. Definitely will add this to my next order.

Red clover sprouts are a favorite, and form a basis for many leafy sprout mixes. Start with a big spoonful of red clover, and add a bit o this and a bit o that – and voila – a healthy and uniquely tasty refreshing addition to (especially) the winter diet. It sprouts readily and cleans up nicely (surrenders its hulls easily) so is great for beginners, and can be used for both sprouts or micro-greens, its a mild flavor in my opinion, and pairs well with stronger flavors . Not to mention – it adds a lovely bioluminescence to the kitchen when it is greening up in a mason jar on the counter.

These are fast growing and produce a light small sprout. It only takes 4-5 days for the sprouting jar to be packed full of beautiful sprouts. They are very tasty, with a mild, almost sweet clover flavor.

I have used Mumm`s seeds for almost 20 years and absolutely LOVE them. I can`t get over the quality and viability of them. My last purchase of these seeds were still 70% viable at 9 years old! I highly recommend Mumm`s seeds to anyone who values quality in a food item.
A very satisfied customer –
I thought I would try these seeds recently and am not sorry I did. The seeds sprout very quickly and taste great in salads and tacos. I use Kelp Man to help the sprouting along and it works great. I will buy these seeds again and I highly recommend them to anyone.

I’ve never grown clover before but an acquaintance suggested I give it a try. These germinate fast and looks like at almost 100% germination if I’m not mistaken. They taste fresh, delicious and very mildly sweet. I heard that they are great for women’s health and that’s also the reason why I decided to try them. Interestingly, my dog loves to nibble on them so I also put a little bit in his dog bowl for him. I like that they grow fast, are delicious in sandwiches and just about anything you mix them with. They are fast growers and taste delicious. I can’t go wrong with them!
Red clover fiend –
Been sprouting red clover from Mumms for many years. Very easy to sprout. This is how I give my family fresh food to my family during the winter. They are crunchy but have a mild taste so they mix well with salads. I often eat them with a little lemon juice and salt.
Gwen –
These seeds sprout quickly and drain well. I keep three bottles going, staggered, so I always have enough sprouts to turn them into a daily salad. Greens are hard to get these days (covid 19 = rare shopping expeditions), so sprouts are my go-to veggies.

Quick sprouting seeds and very tasty.

Red clover is one of those herbs you want to know about, especially as a woman. It’s great to help with detoxifying the liver, preventing cancer, helps with fertility and helps menopausal women with hot flashes as well as women who have cramps during their period. These are the qualities of the flowers, and you can most certainly plant the seeds and they will grow into plants in your garden, not to mention fixing nitrogen in the soil.
As sprouts, they are mild tasting, fast and easy to grow (I grow mine in an old fish tank), and they make excellent toppings over burgers and dogs or in wraps and salads.

Delicious clover seeds. I love them when theyre just sprouted, nutty, sweet flavor.
