Did You Know
Fava beans have been a staple of Middle Eastern cuisines for thousands of years and show no signs of slowing down. Fuul Nabet, as they are called in Arabic, are commonly sprouted by many cultures to increase their nutritional value. They have a buttery texture and a rich nutty flavour that truly differentiates them from other beans.
More history: Archaeological excavations in the Galilee area of northern Israel provided evidence that prehistoric man 10,000 years ago consumed lentils, several types of peas and chickpeas, and especially fava beans. You can read the full study published in Nature here. Clearly, the Neolithic diet consisted of protein-rich legumes.

Best Sprouting Method
Soak 6 to 12 hours.
Put 4 Tbsp. or more seed in a wide mouth jar. Cover jar with screen; secure with rubber band. Add water, swirl, and drain. Refill jar with water. Soak seeds 6 to 12 hours. Drain well and invert jar at an angle in a sink or a bowl.
Rinse twice a day. Rinse seeds by refilling jar halfway with water and gently swirling. Drain well and invert jar.
Enjoy! Ready to eat in 3 days. To keep fresh, refrigerate well drained sprouts. Sprouts store best when fairly dry- do not store immediately after rinsing.
Grow in a sprouting tray with drainage holes.
Soak 1 to 2 layers of seed for about 6 to 8 hours.
Drain well. Rinse or spritz twice a day for about 10 days. (You may harvest them earlier since the stems can become fibrous if grown too long.
Cut off shoot and enjoy.
